About
About 1 pregnancy in 100 at 20 weeks of pregnancy and later is affected by stillbirth, and each year about 24,000 babies are stillborn in the United States. (cdc.gov)
Most families only have between 1-6 hours to grieve with their stillborn child. The earliest sign of macerations are seen in the skin 4 – 6 hours after intrauterine death. (stillbirthday.com)
The CuddleCot cooling cot provides grieving families an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones, stillbirth up to a one year old infant, for up to two weeks.
"The CuddleCot cooling pad is placed in any Moses basket, crib or bed. It is connected by a specially insulated hose and is quietly cooled using the CuddleCot cooling unit.
The CuddleCot’s thin, soft cooling pad is placed on top of the soft mattress which ensures baby is fully cushioned and comfortable. The CuddleCot system comes with two sizes of cooling pad for premature and full-term babies.
Grief is a natural response to loss, and everyone experiences grief differently.
We know that not every family may choose to use a CuddleCot, but we do hope that every family is offered the option to use a CuddleCot when the need arises.
It is our mission to help raise awareness of stillbirth and neonatal death and the wider support that is available."

If I donate, what percentage of my donation goes toward the purchase of a CuddleCot?

How many CuddleCots has The Born Sleeping Foundation purchased?
When our foundation began, our goal was to donate 1 CuddleCot per year in memory of Wesley. With the generosity of so many, we were able to purchase our first CuddleCot in October 2021 and donate that to Kaiser Roseville in Northern California, where I delivered. We then held our first fundraiser in April 2022 and received enough funds to purchase 5 CuddleCots that year. In April 2023, we held our second fundraiser and raised much more and was able to purchase 7 CuddleCots, for a total of 13. The long term vision is that every hospital in the nation will have access to a CuddleCot.
